About everylocalmusic

MY JOURNEY. My name is Clive Stewart and this is my journey. In 1979 I migrated to the U.S. from my tiny island home of Jamaica. I attended High School for two years and later served in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. After serving in the Navy, I embarked on the music scene in the early 1990's as a BMI recording artist. In collaboration with several talented artists, I have served as the lead singer, song writer, producer and rhythm guitarist of my band Common Ancestor. In 2007 I had the privilege of opening for country great, Crystal Gayle. The name of the band symbolizes my beliefs and values that as humans, we all share the genes of the original man. My music has been an inspiration to many as I continue to share the love, one listener at a time. Blending the sounds of my Jamaican roots with good old American Rock n Roll, I continue to perfect my style, which I so named “J’Roc” (pronounced; Ja rock). I am also involved in several solo projects, and have performed in many venues across the North West including nursing homes for the elderly, charity, and fundraising events. In the summer of 2014, I had the pleasure of performing in Pamplona, Spain to the delight of many new friends. I have made several recordings, and I continue to improve my profile. The true heart of Common Ancestor, is to stay actively involved in communities, sharing great music, and inviting others to join us in spreading the love to one listener at a time. After all, Common Ancestor is the worlds’ biggest band. It’s your band, so let’s go make a difference.
